Psychiatric Evaluation & qEEG Brain Scan in White Plains

Most psychiatry treats symptoms in the dark. We start by looking at your brain — so every treatment decision is guided by data, not guesswork.

Why start with a brain map?

Imagine a cardiologist treating chest pain without ever looking at your heart. That's how much of psychiatry still works — a diagnosis from a conversation, then medication by trial and error. A quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain map measures your brain's electrical activity and compares it to a large normative database, producing a color-coded map of which regions are overactive, underactive, or communicating poorly.

In plain terms: it shows us what your brain is actually doing — not just what label your symptoms fit. Two people with the same "anxiety" diagnosis can have completely different brain patterns driving it, which is why treating everyone the same so often fails.

Target the right therapy

Match a neurofeedback protocol or TMS placement to your specific brain activity.

Reduce guesswork

Make medication and supplement decisions informed by data, not trial and error.

Measure progress

Follow-up scans show change in black and white — you see it, not just feel it.

Comfortable and non-invasive

The evaluation is painless — a sensor cap records your brainwaves for a short session. Dr. Asif then interprets the map personally, combining it with your history and emotional profile. You leave with a genuine understanding of what's happening in your brain and a plan built around it. This brain-based method is the thread connecting every service we offer, from TMS and ketamine to neurofeedback and neuromodulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is a qEEG the same as an MRI?
No. An MRI images brain structure; a qEEG measures brain function (electrical activity). For mood, attention, and anxiety, function is often what matters most.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. It's painless and non-invasive — just sensors that read your brain's natural electrical signals.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required to book an evaluation. We're an out-of-network practice and can provide an invoice for your insurer.
